About the Division

The Public Works Department's Engineering Division provides project management for upgrades to the City of Fort Lauderdale's infrastructure.

Our team of professional engineers, construction managers, inspectors and administrative personnel provide internal project management, contract administration and development services which benefit our internal and external stakeholders.

Diverse project types include improvements to:

SE 4th Avenue Stormwater Improvements Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southeastern Engineering Contractors will be making improvements to the stormwater system along SE 4th Avenue between SE 16th Court and SE 16th Street in Poinciana Park. The work includes:

  • Installing a new 24-inch stormwater pipe to replace an existing obsolete corrugated metal pipe
  • Restoring pavement, sidewalk, and curbing as needed 

Construction will begin on Monday, May 13, 2024, and is expected to be completed in mid-June 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

  • SE 4th Avenue between SE 16th Court and SE 16th Street will be open to local traffic only while this work is taking place. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
  • Crews will attempt to coordinate with neighbors prior to the start of operations that may affect driveway access.
  • Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
