The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Ric-Man Construction Florida Inc. to make stormwater infrastructure improvements that will reduce flooding in River Oaks. Since construction began in January 2022, crews have:

• installed 278 catch basins and more than 21,000 feet of drainage pipe
• reconstructed more than 61,000 square yards of swale
• lined more than 5,000 feet of existing drainage pipe

Overall completion is expected in May 2024.

Project Update

Crews are currently working to correct deficiencies identified during recent inspections. On Monday, May 13, crews will begin repairing a stormwater pipe at the intersection of State Road 84 and SW 15th Avenue. This work is expected to be completed by the end of May 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 5 a.m. and 9 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

• Two eastbound lanes of State Road 84 between Interstate 95 and SW 15th Avenue will be closed daily during work hours starting Monday, May 13 until the work is completed. Two eastbound lanes will remain open.
• Westbound traffic will not be impacted.
• Access to driveways will be maintained.
• Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
