The City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the City. The City Manager is ably assisted by a team of professional and diverse public administrators and is appointed by a five-member City Commission – a Mayor and four City Commissioners - in a traditional Commission-Manager form of government.

Our service delivery approach at the City of Fort Lauderdale is simple – We Build Community. To fulfill this mission, we streamlined the organization to nine departments and organized the Administration around five core service areas: Infrastructure, Public Places, Neighborhood Enhancement, Business Development and Public Safety. We also developed and adopted a Strategic Plan for each area, consistent with the citywide neighbor Vision, as outlined in Fast Forward Fort Lauderdale. The Strategic Plan defines the stated goals in the context of the meaning for our neighbors.

We invite you learn more about the City of Fort Lauderdale by visiting these pages virtually and actually visiting our beautiful beaches, vibrant downtown and charming neighborhoods.
