PARK(ing) Day is a one-day global event held on the third Friday of September each year that brings citizens together to transform on-street parking spaces into temporary public places, such as pop-up parks, for everyone to enjoy. Temporarily transforming parking places into people places challenges us to rethink the ways our streets and urban spaces are used, stimulates creative placemaking, and raises awareness for the importance of creating walkable, livable, and healthy communities. 

The City of Fort Lauderdale invites neighbors, business owners, guests, students, and Community Builders to participate in PARK(ing) Day on Friday, September 18, 2020. Celebrate with us by reclaiming City parking spaces and transforming them into temporary public spaces.

How to Participate

Any business, organization, neighborhood, school, or individual may participate in PARK(ing) Day, free of charge, by following these simple guidelines:

1. Read the Fort Lauderdale PARK(ing) Day Participation Manual . The manual will guide you through the process required to transform parking spaces into your own unique, fun, engaging people places on PARK(ing) Day.
2. Once you have read the manual, select the preferred location for your park, complete and submit the PARK(ing) Day application and the Waiver of Liability and Hold Harmless Agreement  and tell us more about the ideas you have for your park.
3. If your application is approved, please read and respond to all coordination emails from the City's Parking Services Division regarding set up, breakdown, and other important information for PARK(ing) Day.
4. Set up your park at your designated parking space location on PARK(ing) Day, promote it on social media using #FTLPARKingDay, and have fun!
