The LauderTrail Master Plan’s goal is to develop a comprehensive multi-use trail system that safely connects everyone in the City of Fort Lauderdale to parks, transit, local businesses, and attractions. Designed for pedestrians and bicyclists who want low stress routes and separation from traffic, the LauderTrail Master Plan uses 8 miles of existing trails, incorporates 3 miles of programmed trails, and adds 31 miles of new trail.

LauderTrail TimelineThe Complete LauderTrail System Will Connect to:

  • 270 Businesses
  • 45 Parks & Green Spaces
  • 12 Schools
  • 35 Neighborhoods
  • 12 Water Taxi Stops
  • 17 Bus Routes
  • 2 Railroad Stations

The LauderTrail Master Plan is organized into five segments, numbered according to their implementation phase. The Transportation and Mobility Department is currently working on the design for Segments 1 and 2.

Segment 1: Eastside Trail

Includes NW Flagler Avenue at NW 4th Street to N Dixie Highway at NE 17 Ct, connecting the Mobility Hub, Joint Government Center, FAT Village, Holiday Park, and more!

This trail will link existing trail segments, spur economic development along the corridor, and spark additions and improvements to existing park infrastructure.

Segment 2: Central Loop

The Central Loop combines designated, quiet, low volume neighborhood streets north of the New River and west of Downtown with existing parks, greenspace, and schools, such as Mills Pond Park, North Fork Elementary School, Walker Elementary School, and the Brightline Station.

The loop will create multiple access points from surrounding streets in the northwest neighborhoods, incorporate seawall and stormwater improvements, and add public greenspace along the New River.
