Address Verification / Change Requests

Buildings are numbered by their geographical coordinates on an addressing grid. During crisis, emergency vehicles use the address grid to quickly locate streets and buildings. The address on any building not only speeds aid to the structure, but it also provides a sign to indicate direction and distance to be traveled to the designated location. When property numbering is uncertain or there may be conflicts with the current address, the Address Verification / Change Request process has been established so that information can be verified or resolved.

A Folio number is required for all address requests (i.e., new or alternative addresses and address verification). Neighbors may use the Broward County Property Appraiser (BCPA) website to confirm that the property address is in Fort Lauderdale and/or to look up the folio number. The folio number will be the Property ID.

A Site Plan is also required for new or alternative address requests.

If you are an authorized agent, or lessee, requesting a change to an address, a notarized Address Request Authorization Form, with permission from the owner of record, must be submitted with your request.

You can submit an address request by visiting LauderBuild and signing in or registering an account. Then select New Application >  Permits to start your application.

NOTE: A particular address number or street name may be requested, but cannot be guaranteed. The primary purpose of assigning street addresses is to provide an accurate and easily visible address for rapidly locating a home or business in any emergency requiring fire, life and/or safety services and for efficient mail and parcel delivery to homes and businesses.
