In 2012 the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Historic Preservation Design Guidelines were created with funds provided by a Certified Local Government Grant and were written by the firm Preservation Design Partnership, Inc. (PDP). The intention is to use these guidelines to help manage and protect the City’s architectural and historical resources.
The benefits of guidelines are many. They can assist City staff, the historic preservation board, and elected officials in making fair and informed decisions regarding improvements that have an impact on historic properties. They will also provide an educational reference for owners of locally designated historic buildings and information for property owners of older buildings within the community.
The guidelines are provided below. The document has been divided into sections to allow the reader to focus on specific topics and reduce download time.
