Chief Gollan, a 26-year veteran of the fire service, has spent the last 16 years serving with the Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue (FLFR) Department in both operations and administrative roles. His time in operations was spent progressing through the ranks while serving on both the Technical Rescue and Marine Teams. In administration, Steve has spent the last five years as the Assistant Fire Marshal and Public Information Officer.

Chief Gollan is a graduate of Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership XXVII Class and was recognized by the Broward County Fire Chiefs’ Association as the Chief Officer of the Year in 2022. Chief Gollan is well respected for his solutions-driven disposition, transformational leadership, and decades of accomplishments and accolades.

Chief Gollan currently holds a Center for Public Safety Excellence designations for both Chief Fire Officer and Public Information Officer. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Auburn University and has earned numerous fire service certifications in both Florida and Alabama.

Chief Gollan is known for his passion for the fire service and for his unmatched devotion to Fort Lauderdale. He was born in Fort Lauderdale at Broward Health (formerly Broward General) and has a unique perspective from a lifetime of intimate knowledge of the City’s expansive growth and change. Steve is a dedicated member of public safety and works diligently to ensure that the community's needs are met while keeping his crews trained so they can return safely to their families at the end of their shifts. Steve's other passion is his family and spending time on the water or at baseball games with his wife Elana and two sons, Andrew and Brady.
