NE 13th Street Complete Streets Project
The NE 13th Street Complete Streets Project is located within the Central City CRA and includes elements that will create safe multi-modal access for all users, such as: lane reductions, bike lanes, enhanced crosswalks, pedestrian scale street lights, on-street parking, landscaping and ADA Improvements. The project limits are NE 13th Street from NE 4th Avenue to NE 9th Avenue.
This project is aligned with the Fast Forward Fort Lauderdale 2035 Vision Plan and Press Play Fort Lauderdale 2018 to create a connected community in Fort Lauderdale that provides multi-modal connections for all users. This project will also create a business district that will encourage pedestrian-friendly activities as well as improve safety, stimulate economic development and create a healthier community by fostering a green environment.
New Developments
The NE 13th Street Complete Streets Project has already had an impact on new business development along the NE 13th Street Corridor project area. The Warsaw Coffee Company opened at 815 NE 13 Street in March 2015. The spacious 3,800 square foot space includes indoor and outdoor lounge areas, table and bar seating, a pastry kitchen, main coffee bar, coffee roasting room, walk-up and drive-through barista bars and flex office space for rent for business meetings and cooking classes. The kitchen produces fresh baked goods, as well as snacks and lunch items.
The building was previously vacant until the owners and successful restaurateurs Blaise McMackin and Scott Ojeda completely renovated it. Warsaw Coffee Company has been a success and we're projecting that this will be the first of many similar businesses opening in this area.
